My son goes to a classical co-op.  They recently studied schemes and tropes (schemes of construction, parallelism, metaphor, personification, etc.).  I don’t feel that his teacher really provided the students with the best understanding of this subject matter (as was evidenced by how many kids failed the test).  Any suggestions for study guides/curriculum/books that I could use in helping my son.  He is in ninth grade.  Thanks!

The Lost Tools of Writing by Circe Institute teaches schemes and tropes through persuasive writing.  We used in Classical Conversations. When taught properly it is a great program.  They also have some online classes for both students and teachers.

Thanks. Do you have to complete the first level to understand the second? I don’t want to buy a couple of years of curriculum.
