Hello Everyone, I’m working on planning my first year of CM hs’ing and need some help…

Do you do just 1 poet per year?  And how often do you schedule poetry…all year or just one term?

Art/Picture Study also looks like we do 1 artist per year…again, is this a one term thing or all year?

And Music…how often do you schedule this?  I’ve noticed that the recommended time is 6 weeks per composer…is that what you do?

Thanks so much for your help!  This forum is great!

Hi! You do 1 Poet Study but you read at least 12 poems per Term. You can read from a child’s poetry book with from a variety of poets like Oxfords Book of Children’s Poetry. For Picture study, you look at 6 pics per artist–one artist every 6 weeks (2 artists per term or 6 artists per school year). Same with music study–6 composers per year (1 composer every 6 weeks).

    HTH!

Yes, Tara, this helps.  Thank you very much!  Simple, clear instructions work best for me. Smile

    Have a great day!

So, one other quick question…do you do these subjects (art, music, poetry) 1x per week?  Or more often?

Hi! There is no right or wrong way to do it, but here’s what we do – We choose two poets, two composers, and two hymns per term and work on each for 6 weeks. We read a poem per day and we work on hymn and composer studies once per week, but listen to the music almost daily.

    Blessings,

    Christie
