I have reviewed the new module 1 for history and am concerned that there might not be “enough” taught to a “4th grader”. I have four children being home educated currently with the oldest of these being the 4th grader. It would be so easy to use module 1 with all of them (1st, 2nd and 4th grades) but I’m concerned that there isn’t enough reading for the 4th grader. Do you ladies think there’s a value to going all the way back to creation in the teaching of history to elementary students? Are they ready and able to comprehend the time span or are they interested mostly in people and events at these younger ages? Any thoughts from seasoned veterans?

PS. I have the family study handbook which I purchased before the revision. Did you make changes to the handbook when you revised the module?

    Hi, Brooke –

The revised module 1 is just like the former module 2. So if you have the Genesis through Deuteronomy & Ancient Egypt handbook, it is what we currently suggest for the revised module 1. We didn’t make any changes to it.

I think going back to Creation and Genesis lays a great foundation for the children. And since Genesis is full of people and events, the accounts in that book are ideal.
