My daughter was reading over my husband’s shoulder the other day and got into a discussion about the article he was reading.  They discussed how some of the information presented as fact was not necessarily true, because of the perspective from which the author was writing, and his underlying assumptions.

What resources would you suggest for a brief introduction into logical thinking, recognizing fallacy, and so on for a 9yo?  She is fairly advanced, so even something appropriate for a couple of years older would be fine.  I just haven’t done any research in this area yet, thinking we would address this in a few years.  I’d like to take advantage of the teaching moment now, though, especially because this particular daughter reads A LOT and is a very deep thinker.  I don’t want an entire year-long curriculum or anything, just an introduction. Thanks. Joanne

You might try The Fallacy Detective and, if you can find it, Joseph Spider and the Fallacy Farm.
