I am wanting to start music lessons with my 6 yr old son. I play the piano and can read music, but he wants to start with the recorder. Does someone have a suggestion for a cheap/free book that would be right for his age level?
Thanks!
suzukimomParticipantPenny Gardner has an inexpensive recorder program called something like 9 note recorder method. I am on my phone so don’t have the link
BookwormParticipantI highly recommend the same book as suzukimom, the Nine Note Recorder by Penny Gardner, but IMO six is a bit young to start. I usually wait until about 8.
MunroePalmsParticipantThanks! I’m going to take a look there also.
suzukimomParticipantI also don’t know much about it, but the Suzuki method has it for Recorder as well. But of course then you need a suzuki recorder teacher (and who knows if there would be one in the area…)
But that makes me think it is possible for younger students…. and possibly they have smaller (scaled) recorders?)
mymommy1ParticipantThanks for the book recommendation. Bookworm, do you start a different instrument first or just wait altogether?
BookwormParticipantWe wait.
