Has anyone here used MFW? I was thinking about rearranging it. I am using CTG but I thought about including some ideas from here. I am deeply atractted to Simply Charlotte Mason because of it’s biblical emphasis. MFW has a wonderful biblical emphasis as well. Of course, I am not asking for any MFW bashing, but can anyone offer their thoughts and opinions on MFW as it compares to SCM?

ETA: I just want honest opinions. I didn’t mean that anyone would bash MFW or anything like that, they way some boards will with any curriculum that isn’t there own.

FYI, As long as you’re courteous about it, we welcome any bashing of our own stuff if it should need it. 🙂 We would just take it as valuable feedback.

Do feel free to discuss and compare products and approaches. We hope you like what we have to offer, but if something else fits your family better, then that’s great too. We’ll be glad to have helped by making a place for the discussion.

I used MFW for the past three years. And yes, you can rearrange it to fit your needs. If I remember correctly, alot of their recommended books are also on the SCM book list. Pick what you like from MFW and then put in what you like from SCM. You could just let MFW be a guide and then choose books you want to read to complement. (BTW, the read-alouds are wonderful with CTG.)

A wise lady once told me (that would be Sonya) don’t be a slave to the curriculum; you’re the master!! I loved using MFW and would have used it this year but I do have a problem with letting my curriculum be the master so I decided to try something different. So far so good!!!

I DO like MFW but I really like simplifying and returning to a more CM approach. I feel like it is slowly becoming my master.

My dd who is 11 is balking at the work for some things and I can’t tel if it is from laziness or to difficult. I can not keep up with the projects or feasts and we are on week 3 or just finished it. She doesn’t like to read but can and does enjoy being read to.

Thank you, Doug for the reassurance about bashing. My friends come to me when they want the truth, because they know I won’t sugar coat it.

    I need to think more…
