I am new to CM. I am wondering I notice that there are not any reading lists to read. I know that the children read History and Geography but I am not seeing this. Can anyone add some helpful advice. I have a 1rst, 3rd, and 4th grader next year. I see what my 1rst garder wil read but not my 3rd and 4th grader.
The reading lists for history and geography are listed in the product pages for the guides SCM sells.sarah2106Participant
For History SCM guides assign 1-3rd grade as read aloud by parent and 4th-6th is when independent read alouds are assigned, while the family read aloud is continued for everyone. If you look at the sample of the guide you are interested in it will show every book scheduled for every grade, including family books.
As for literature there is a suggested reading lists, but once again for younger those are often used as family read alouds.
For literature I pick and choose from many lists, and we always have one book I read to the family, one book for each that they read out loud to me (even 7th grader reads out loud to me daily), and then they have their free reading for fun books that are not a part of school, just what they enjoy.
