Someone mentioned HOD’s science on another post. I really like what they offer but don’t want to buy their full curriculum guide. Does anyone know if there are lesson plans out there for using those particular items or something similar? Would HOD sell just science guides? I don’t know if I could just buy the books and wing it. That is definitely not my strong point. Any advice?
momParticipantYou would need to buy the teachers guide for whichever level you are using. The younger guides are a little light, but if you use them fully the lessons are reinforced by the other subjects. I loved using HOD as-is and I recommend it, especially in the younger guides. But I guess you can piece it together per subject as well.
deltagalMemberIf you bought the books to wing it you would truly miss the best of the HOD science plan, which includes a regular rotation of experiments with lab report, reading, notebooking, and q & a. I LOVE IT!!! You would as pp need the teacher’s guide and the science books. The science really starts to click beginning with the Bigger Guide IMHO and just gets better and better after that.
binkyParticipantDeltagal- do you use all of the hod guides or just the science part? Can you tell me what the Bigger Guide is?
deltagalMemberAll of my children use all of the guides, except my oldest who is in high school and he uses some additional resources to beef-up and make his work high school worthy. The Bigger Guide is Bigger Hearts for His Glory. The Bigger guide’s target audience is 3rd graders, but you easily can use it with older children, if desired.
