I am currently scheduling our new year and I am noticing that books like Pharaohs of AE and Golden Goblet are first read by 7-9 then by the 4-6 crowd. I have kids in all levels except the 10-12 crowd and was curious what others have done. Have you had your 7-9 read these independently, or have you done them as a family with everyone, and if so did which group schedule did you follow?

Well, I haven’t done it yet…but since no one else chimed in yet…I plan to have mine read it on their own individually since there are already other things scheduled to read together (I think).  However, each of your ideas is just as valid as any other! And there’s alwasy the chance I will change my mind when we get to it!  For me, it will just depend on how much time I have…and while I love to read aloud, I have a tendency to slow my kids down when I read more aloud b/c we just don’t get to it all the time.

    Best to you!!

We’re using this resource right now.  I have children in years 2, 4, 6, and 7.  The oldest two read the 7-9 selections on their own and narrate to me (and discuss at length with each other 🙂 They’re less than a year and a half apart and are used to doing most of their work together).  We read the Bible and all family selections all together, and I will read the 1-3 selections to the youngest two.  The girl in year four may also read the 4-6 selections on her own, or we may decide that she will have enough reading the younger selections with her brother.
