Hi, I have a question about Civil Service Exams? My daughter (going on 12 in fall when she starts 7th grade,) is looking into the future about becoming a Post Master at the post office for one of her choices. She plays post office all the time with her younger sister (they have desks, all kinds of supply’s from the P.O. they pretend there customers or workers etc….)We asked a friend there at the P.O. if we could have a tour of the P.O. and she has to get permission and will get back with us and we asked her if she went to college etc. to become a post master and she said she did but not for postmaster, for other things, and she only had to take a civil service exam to be a P.O. person, so my question is,,what is on the civil service exam??? So i can be teaching items that she will need in the future to be able to pass one if she chooses? Any help would be great, Thanks so much,

These two sites might be helpful, it looks like the test that your daughter would need is the Battery 470 Exam. Here is a practice site: text to link

Here is another good site for federal job tests, it may be overlapping information: text to link

Hope that is helpful, my husband’s grandfather has been a postal carrier for nearly 40 years and our 6 year old daughter wants to be a letter carrier just like him!

    Best wishes,

My DH is in the Army, and has been approached numerous times about taking this exam (a lot of military go into the PO when they get out). You can print off practice tests at the sights Mamasong mentioned, and there were tons of books about it at our library in Cincinnati.

How neat your DD already knows what profession she wants to go in, my DD can’t even decide what extracurricular activity she wants to do next year!

    Good luck

    Kathi
