Has anyone used Math Lessons for a Living Education: Book 1 by Angela O’Dell? What ages did you use it for and did you like it? I’m looking at this or Math U See Primer for my 4.5 yo. We use Math U See for our other dc but thought Math Lessons for a Living Education looked a bit more gentle and living in its approach, for this age. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks, Heather
HelenParticipantYes, we have been using Math Lessons for a Living Education: Book 1 during this past school year. My daughter was 4.5 when we began. We love it! It really suits my daughter’s personality. She loves the stories, coloring the pages and the one-on-one time with mommy. She is learning math concepts beautifully and with no stress. She asks excitedly to do her ‘green book’!
I highly recommend this resource.
petitemomParticipantAwesome, I was going to write the exact same post Heather!!
thanks for the response Helen.
csmammaParticipantThanks Helen! Do you need extras to go with the book?
Too funny, petitemom – if you purchase it, will you let me know what you think?
Blessings!
petitemomParticipantI don’t know if they will be at the conference this summer but I might wait until than to save on shipping, I need a few things from Queens…
HelenParticipantYou don’t need to purchase any “extras” but you do need simple things that probably are around the house anyway such as contact paper, construction paper, large index cards, brass fasteners, crayons, markers and colored pencils, glue or paste, hole punch & hole reinforcers, rings to keep flashcards together, a plastic shoe-box with lid, old magazines for pictures, several large pieces of poster board, at least 100 “counting items” such as dried beans, buttons or craft sticks, baggies and freezer bags and 3 containers for your Place Value Village.
OK, so I just listed everything for you all. Hee-hee.
Enjoy!
petitemomParticipantthanks!
Melissa HensonParticipantI just wanted to chime in here with some available if you decide you want them.
I have Book One that has Lesson One and some of Lesson Two done in pencil. Otherwise, brand new.
I have Book Two that has Lesson One and part of Lesson Two done in pencil.
Obviously, we ended up decided to go a different route. I just purchased these directly from Queen a couple of months ago and we just didn’t use them after that first lesson or two. If you are interested, please contact me.
Thanks and good luck, ladies!
Melissa
