Anyone from upstate or near Syracuse. I’m moving from Austin TX which is super homeschool friendly. I’m not finding alot of co- ops. Would love some help.

Welcome to NYS, We generally aren’t homeschool friendly, but my district hasn’t given me any trouble. We have been schooling 4 kids for 8 yrs. I’m would be 1 hr. north of you and I’ve begun a homeschool library in my basement, last year. There is a Syracuse LEAH, maybe that would help. Feel free to contact me with specific questions. Syracuse has many public libraries and a curriculum sale in May every year. Blessings for your move. Martha

Thank you for being so kind. I’m sure I’ll have more questions. I’m so nervous but, also hopeful.

Hi I am up way too late, and as I was doing a search I came across your post. (This is my first every reply to any posting, if that tells you anything of my computer time). We moved here last fall and we are in Cortland NY, just about  30 min or so from Syracuse…we go there often…are you in Syracuse now?

Hi Jody! We will be there October 7th. Packing up our home right now. How did you like it ? I am so nervous. We have an amazing homeschooling community here.

Hi Stacy! I’d be happy to help you with whatever I can, and I’d love to start a CM book study, if you are interested, perhaps once a month…there is a LEAH group here in Cortland and in Syracuse. I did go to an open house for a newer co-op that is here…but it’s not a CM group. I just wanted to check it out, but it’s not for us. There are always homeschoolers getting together; however, if you’re looking for a CM focused group, perhaps that is now in the making 🙂 Our LEAH group only had a once a week gym time…and a few mom get togethers. I do think other regions have more active LEAH groups than this one in Cortland. I’m not sure to what extent we’ll do that again…we moved from an area of huge support to here, and it’s been difficult, actually. Syracuse may have more to offer. (We like to go to the zoo there, although we miss the Denver Zoo)I just got an email about a Syracuse Homeschool Choir…looks interesting, but I don’t think we’re gonna be able to make it with the commute at dinner time into the evening. I wanted to try something of Solfa this year…and I was excited that maybe our children could join this type of choir, but the more considering of it, it’s just not the time. I have a big vision to see a CM group here, but right now, I suppose it’s just getting some moms together who share this love of CM style teaching and then taking baby steps in that direction. The moms I’ve met here are kind of quite happy with their traditional ways of teaching, and not so much interested, sadly (for me). I do know of another mom who is moving here from PA soon and I met her through another lady up in Albany who went to the Ambleside Online conference this past summer. I’ve not met her yet, but I am praying for how God would bless our CM friendship. I will pray for you and your family’s move.Yes, it’s a bit scary, but God is faithful and sees all the details and he will be your peace through it all. You can email me if you like and I can talk to you more to help you however I can.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I would LOVE to do a book study and perhaps a nature group? I believe there’s a nature and science center near us. Thank you for your prayers. I am just taking it day by day. I’m worried about my boys. I know they will miss their friends. I know I’ll be missing mine. So grateful we are in contact!   My email is stacy.orefice@gmail.com  As soon as we get settled in ,  I’d love to meet! Oh and I need to get accustomed to the homeschool laws in NY! Texas is Willy nilly. You have no obligation to report a thing!  Hope to talk soon !</p>
