I think that my up and coming 9th grader would benefit from studying the “technical” side of poetry (a suggestion from a fellow SCMer) but I’m not sure what to use.
I have looked at Excellence in Writing and Michael Clay Thomas.
Any thoughts or other recommendations??
blue jParticipantMy girls really enjoyed The Roar On The Other Side. I can’t remember the name of the other one I was considering. If I can find the title, I’ll post it.
I think that Queen’s covers poetry in one of their English courses, but I’m not sure which grade level it’s in.
My son used Sound and Sense when he did poetry – it comes in Sonlight’s Core 530 if you want to see a picture of it.
Of the ones we have personally used, TROTOS is what I will use with my youngest when she is ready for it.
my3boysParticipantThank you!!
I have Writer’s Inc and it does cover poetry, but I’ve not compared it to anything else and we have never done this before. I think what WI covers will at least be more than what he has had, which is nothing, so we’ll start there (didn’t know it was in the handbook) but I’m intrigued by TROTOS. Thank you.
knechtslodgeParticipantI just did a review of The Art of Poetry and thought it was quite good. You can see my review here http://www.cabininthewoods-diane.blogspot.com/2013/03/tos-review-classical-academic-press-art.html and check out the links I provided to the product.
Blessings
