Have you all heard of Natalie Merchant’s CD “Leave Your Sleep”? I just stumbled upon it while looking up a poem by e e cummings. It was released a couple of years ago, so it might be old news to many of you. Smile I’m impressed with the selection of poems (all of which you can read here). She set to music poems by e e cummings, Edward Lear, Robert Louis Stevenson, and so many more. I’ve always been a fan of her voice, but the music itself is quite lovely, too (you can listen to sound clips here)… sometimes on the folksy side, sometimes orchestrated (which appeals to me as a musician!), sometimes a combination. I think it’s a really nice collection, so I thought I’d share!

I like it when poetry is set to music, thanks for sharing.

One of my Christmas gifts was a poetry book with a cd of different actors reading the poems. I like the short poet biographies that go along each chosen poem.
