    I have ages 13, 10, 8, & 6 that will be working through Module 6.

So tell me what you would add to Module 6. I definitely want to add in some more bios (Churchill, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Reagan, etc..) but I am also seeing that there is not much after WW II listed. So what are you using to add on for history after WW II?

I will be upfront that I really do not care for SOTW. I have it but do not care for it so I would like to steer away from it if possible. But, again I say that knowing that there is not a whole lot out there.

What are you using for your spine?

I don’t know, I’m curious to see what responses you get. I do not like SOTW at all and my kids like it even less, but I’ve found so little to cover the 20th century especially that I feel “stuck” with it. We roll our eyes a lot. 🙂 I only own vol. 4 and no one is crazy about it but we like most other things we’ve seen even less.

    Shana and Michelle,

Have either of you looked at Tapestry of Grace? It is definitely not set up CM style, but I use it that way. (get rid of worksheets, quizzes, and tests–my dc are still fairly young–and use narration). Anyway, even if you didn’t want to buy the program itself, they have book lists online for the time period you’re mentioning. I’m on Y2 next year, so I can’t vouch for Y4. However, when I looked through their booklist, I was pretty impressed. Also, the thing I LOVE about tapestry (and the reason we use it) is that they cover K-12 for each time period week by week. So… I can assign certain readings to my older kids and read aloud things to everyone, yet we all stay together historically. These are just a few thoughts, if you’re dissatisfied with your current program.

    Hi,

I notice alot of people ask questions on here about what books they should read according to a time period, and I just thought I would recommend a wonderful resource you can use independently that lists all of the books according to centuries and it is called ” Let the Author Speak ” by Carolyn Hatcher. It is so easy to use, and it even has a reading level listed with each book.

Another great resource is Christine Miller’s All Through the Ages.
