My state mandates we do PE.  What suggestions do you have.  I don’t really care what they are per say, cause I have boys they are out playing roof ball, soccer, etc all day.  But I need to have something “writen” just incase and I feel I do the same things every year?  Suggestions

Also, I am going to try and do a hymn study this year for the 1st time.  I want something simple and easy to begin with.  I also know that no one is going to sing or get very involved.  Could you recommend a book that has information about the hymn and comes with a CD.  As I know this is not something I’m going to find at my library.  Also I have dial up so using the computer online will not work.  Thanks in advance.

For hymn study we use Hymns for a Kid’s Heart, there are several volumes. Volume one is here: http://www.amazon.com/Hymns-Kids-Heart-Vol-1/dp/1581345054/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1275418213&sr=8-1

We love volume 1, I look forward to the others.

For hymn study this year we are doing module one of SCM’s. I looked online for the lyrics and printed them out for us to sing along to. I noticed most hymn cd’s don’t have the full hymns sung so I think we may have to just use the free midi-files online. I have a few books I got from thrift stores on the history of different hymns. I also know that John MacArthur has a hymn cd and book and the book gives the background on the hymns. We have that as well. That information is also free online, I noticed.

About PE…based on things I remember doing in school some suggestions (besides formal sports) would be kickball, basketball, jump rope, walking, running, jumping jacks, situps, pushups, etc, even bike riding or scootering would count I would think. I know my library here has a book on PE for homeschooled kids. It had many ideas in there. :o)

On the Amazon page it let’s you “look inside” the book. Click on the book and then click “first pages.” It shows you the entire section for Holy, Holy, Holy. This is the format it uses for all the hymns.

Glad to have helped Covingtonclan! This has been such a wonderful resource for us.

We have hymns for a childs heart and it is really neat.  I am planning on using it this fall for hymn study and copywork.
