I recently got my own copy of the Handbook of Nature Study. I love it but it’s definitely intimidating! I found the AO nature study rotation, and also the Outdoor Hour challenges blog. I am trying to understand more about how people use the Outdoor Hour blog. Do you do what she is currently posting, or do you use old posts? How do you decide where to start? My kids (5.5, 3 and 1) are loving our nature walks, and learning the names of different stuff, but I definitely feel out of my league. Guidance please!

When I used the Outdoor Hour challenges several years ago, we started with #1-10. It is an introduction to nature study, nature notebooking, and using the Handbook of Nature Study. I liked that gentle introduction. We also did a tree study simultaneously, which was really enjoyable as well. After that, we just studied what was seasonally interesting at the time. HTH!

I also started with #1-10 and at some point purchased a winter study she had available. Now I just follow the blog through email and use it as a guide for what we do at home.
