I read the review at pluggedin.com. I read the book (a long time ago). Has anyone taken their family to see this? I have dd6 and dd3. I will not be heartbroken if it just isn’t a good fit, but wanted suggestions. I don’t want to waste my money if it’s not worth seeing. It is supposed to rain here for the next five days. While I LOVE to spend my time at home with my kids, I might need a little getting out of the house soon. 🙂

I did see the movie.  1st I want to point out I don’t know but assume the previews for the movie regardless of where you are, are the same and I was a bit taken about one of them and my friend who brough her 15 yr old daughter was not happy.  Ok.. the movie..

I don’t think your kids would be very happy with momma.  They would not understand it and would most likely be bored.  That’s just my take.  Even for me I to be honest don’t go to movies often maybe once a year and was a bit heart broken I choose to see that in the theater.  Good for a Netflix or Red Box.

I have not seen the movie personally. My mom did take my kids over the weekend, and they both enjoyed it a lot and were sharing details from the movie vividly when they got back. My kids are older than yours, 8 and 10. Your children may be a bit young right now, but I bet it will be an excellent choice and spark some good conversation in a few years!

My 8yo DD and I enjoyed the movie, but I didn’t/wouldn’t take my younger two.  Not that there was anything inappropriate, just that it would just go over their heads.  The story focuses primarily on the father and the struggles he went through trying to understand and explain his son’s experience, and how that affected his faith.  I thought it was well done and it did a good job at getting me to think about and appreciate my own beliefs, without being preachy.
