I know this has been discussed (and if anyone has a link to some discussions on where to buy them, please send them my way), but I don’t really know where to find the best products or prices. I have head of doTerra (sp?) and I know the health food store has them, but that’s all I got. And, scents!

We get ours from Puritan’s Pride simply because it is cheaper, and they now offer free shipping on all purchases. Their essential oils are extracted by steam distillation (which is what you want to look for in an essential oil, so it has been said), and they also have organic essential oils available. There is no regulation as to the manufacture of essential oils, so there is really no reason to assume that those claiming to be of a certain grade are any better. I believe MissusLeata (I could be wrong, but don’t have time to search her posts) has mentioned a company called BeeYoutiful (again, I’m not sure) had an article on their site that addresses this.

As far as which to buy, you can search essential oils on this forum and find some good threads. My two must-haves are tea tree and lavender because I use them for cleaning and for calming/assisting sleep (the lavender), but I also like peppermint, orange, and eucalyptus. My daughter wants me to get some lemon oil so she can use it in her homemade hand lotions and sugar scrubs for Christmas gifts.

I buy from Spark Naturals. I’ve tried several different brands, and this one has worked for us every time. I do not personally support MLMs, so Young Living and doTerra are out for us. Also, I used doTerra samples that a friend who is a rep gave me, and they did not work well for me. I believe they hike up their prices because so many people up the chain have to get a percentage of each sale. Spark is not an MLM, but a small company who sells directly to the customer. Their shipping is super fast too. My second choice company is Plant Therapy.
We are big oil users. I have 3 diffusers going right now, as a matter of fact!

I purchase my oils from Native American Nutritionals. I spent a good bit of time researching companies and this one and Young Living were the ones I eventually decided to use. I bought the started kit from Young Living because it gave me a wide range of oils to try, as well as a diffuser, for a very reasonable price. All of my re-ordering has been through http://www.nativeamericannutritionals.com as their prices are better across the board and the quality is excellent. We use oils every day for one reason or another!

We order ours from Heritage Essential Oils http://heritageessentialoils.com/  They are cheaper than the companies such as doterra; however, I feel like they still have quality oils that have worked for us. They are quick and have great customer service.

I, too, have spent a great many hours researching oil companies. In the end, Spark was the only one that I felt I could support. I’m sure NAN is a great oil company; I have friends who use them. The best way to determine if a product is for you, however, is to actually use it. In using Spark, I have actually experienced these oils in action. I use them daily on my family and myself. I don’t think there will ever be a “best essential oils company” award given out because everyone has their own preferences. I don’t doubt that YL and DT are excellent oils (although DT didn’t do much for me), I just look for therapies that are both effective AND affordable. If it’s not affordable, it’s not going to be very helpful.

MLM=multi-level marketing companies. Also known as “direct sales”. Young Living and doTerra are the two major essential oil companies, and they are MLMs. Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, AdvoCare, and Avon are other examples. There are multiple people up the pyramid who get paid every time a product is sold. It makes sense that their prices would be higher since so many people have to earn a profit.

Thanks so much for all of your replies! I know we need to try them for ourselves to know how they will work for us, but I greatly appreciate these company names to start with. I know you all have taken the time to search them out (and have used them) so it’s like getting trusted reviews from people I “know”. Ha ha
(And, I do not support MLM, either, so I appreciate the disclaimer.)

I used to sell Tupperware….I was not very good at it since I’m not really a fan of MLM’s either, but I sure had a couple of big parties in my “youth!”
Anyway, I am grateful for this thread because, no offense to Puritan.com, but I would like to look into other companies to see if I am really getting a good price for the quality I like.
