2 Part Question:
1. I am at a loss this year for something simple either my kids can make or buy for their god-parents. I like to keep it about $5 a piece (as we 7 to buy), also because some kids share the same god-parents I like it to be something we could give more than one of, so they each could make/buy it.
2. Our parents! I don’t know about you but buying for my parents and in-laws is a tough job. Any ideas. We’ve done gift cards to movies, home made vanilla, dinner, etc. We only have $50 to spend on each set. What are some great idea’s you’ve done? Either bought or made
Thanks for your help, this group is always a wealth of information and ideas.

sherazParticipantI don’t know about your parents, but mine don’t really want more “stuff”. When they need something, they buy it which makes getting gifts difficult! 😉 Sooo….
One year I made my parents favorite cookie doughs and froze them into little individual one inch balls. After they were frozen I put them into cute freezer containers (layered with wax paper) and gave them a stack of three different types of cookies (with baking instructions on them). I know that when they watch a movie or something in the evenings, sometimes they would love a snack but they won’t make cookies because there are only two of them and they don’t need to eat the whole batch. 😉 They really enjoyed this gift because it was simple to use, yummy, and it didn’t have to be cleaned or displayed. LOL My mom still mentions it occasionally. =)
This would be an easy thing for mulitple people since cookie dough can go quite far. Your kids could help make them too.
rutsgalParticipantGrandparents love photos!! I hit the jackpot last year with a photo book from our year that I had made on snapfish. I added captions under each picture with themed pages. The cover of the book was a picture of the kids & at the bottom it had our family name with the year. I forget how many pages I made but it cost around $45 for each book. The grandparents went crazy for them , showing them off to their friends. Photos & a customized photo book are special keepsakes . Just another idea . Hope you come up with something that will work !

jlmedaParticipantI second the photo gifts. I make photo calendars. Both sets of grandparents have enjoyed them over the years. hope that is a helpful idea.

TailorMadeParticipantOne year, we gave “gift certificates” good for a batch of cookies each month for a year.
LinabeanParticipantWe do the photo calendar idea as well. We have done photo gifts for my parents for years now. They really like them.

Katrina in AKParticipantMy parents just requested mugs with pictures of the grand kids on them. About $12 at Costco, I think.
KristenParticipantI know how tough it is to buy for parents and in-laws! In the past we’ve done the photo calendar or one year I did a gift certificate for a massage. One year i quilted a table runner. I’ve bought a wreath or a Christmas centerpiece that went over well also. Pointsettias also.
I wouldn’t mind a few new ideas also.
HollySParticipantI also like the idea of photos. We did photo collage coffee mugs a few years ago…the kids helped pick out pictures to use and chose the mug design and layout. You can do this through Walmart or Walgreens.
MistyParticipantI am all over the calendar and got thumbs up from all inolved! Thanks for the idea!
