Organizer Start Date Question

I’m entering my resources in the Organizer for my free trial and I wasn’t sure what to enter my start date as.  Should I use the date that we started our school year with or the current date.  We’ve completed many of the lessons already.  Would I mark everything we’ve done so far as finished?  I’m not sure if I’m making sense.

    Any thoughts?  Thank you.

The Start Date for a resource is the date you want it to show up on your Daily Plan. So if the resource is already in progress, go ahead and put in today’s date. That way it will show up right away and you can check off assignments.

    Does that help?

I think so.  Would that mean I mark off previous assignments as already completed?

Thanks so much for the help.

Last year, when I started the organizer in the middle of the year,  I marked off previously done resources as done… pretty much all on the same day… (so we did 5 months of work on one day… lol)    I mostly did that at first with the resources that we were in the middle of – and then later I went and added in most of the other things that we had completed so that I could get a fairly good report of our Years work.  I just made a note on the report that the dates for items being done were incorrect for items before such-and-such date….

If you want to have a record of the dates past assignments were finished, you can use the little calendar on the Daily Plan to enter a date for each one. If you just want to start where you currently are in the assignments/chapters, you can select only the current and future chapters when you schedule the resource.

For example, let’s say you already completed lessons 1-5 of your math book and you just want to start at lesson 6 for the Organizer. Then when you schedule that math book, you would put a Start Date of whenever you want it to show up on the Daily Plan and you would select Lessons 6-30 (or however many are in the book).

If you wanted to have the Organizer list the dates you have already completed lesson 1-5, then schedule the math book to Start today (so it will show up right away). Then on the Daily Plan you will see the math book listed; click the little triangle next to the Today box, and you’ll see a little calendar icon. Click that and you can select the date that you completed lesson 1 and check it off as completed. Then lesson 2 will pop into place and you can do the same for it.

    Clear as mud?

Thank you ladies.  I’ll probably have more questions but I’m having fun and looking forward to utilizing the Organizer!
