Brutal.
We were watching a show on surviving the Alaskan wilderness and the participants were complaining about hiking in 30 degree temps. I would love 30 degrees right now!

Perfect from the inside looking out. And I am definitely staying in. We were out for doctor’s appointments yesterday and since they took much longer than expected, it took me 2.5 hours to get home (got caught in traffic and heavy snow) instead of the 40 minutes it was supposed to take.

Today: let’s see…sunny, with a bit of a chill. Maybe sweatshirt weather. But we should be getting some rain, no snow, coming soon, hopefully. We do need the rain.

Just came in from giving the animals water and extra hay. The chicken’s water was frozen and the cows were almost out. Theirs doesn’t freeze because we have a thing that keeps it thawed but if they run out in that trough, they usually go to the pond…but it’s frozen. The ducks are stranded on the island in the middle of the pond. Supposed to be down to zero Monday night and high of 14. Warm for some of you but this southern girl is cold!

And I’m off to shovel the 2.5-foot drift on the side of our sloped driveway. Otherwise, we’ll continually be in danger of hitting the stone porch steps as we charge up the driveway in our attempts to park off the street.
Oh, and did I mention that the piled up snow on the “roof” of our breakfast nook has caused the tar paper to give way, and I have 8 ceiling tiles down & buckets catching the leaks? We now have to either eat in the living room or take turns eating on the one side of the table that is unaffected by the leaks….and the holiday spirit continues–okay, kids, put in a Christmas movie & let’s eat dinner!
It’s supposed to warm up to 30F tomorrow. Yep….We’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave….

It’s actually 47 degrees (which is cold for us here in Louisiana) and beautifully sunny with gorgeous God-given blue skies. My kids wore shorts outside but promptly returned to dawn more clothes. Supposed to drop below freezing tonight. YAY!

MN has canceled almost everything school related, church or extra on Monday due to the temp reaching a HIGH of -14 without factoring the wind chill. So my kids hear this and go “do we get the day off?” So smart aren’t they? LOL I said ‘no we don’t but I wont make you go outside”
