Sorry if this has already been asked, I’ve been on the net way too long already looking through old posts:)  I think I figured out that Module 1 is used for a year, then you move on to Module 2 the next year?  Does that mean eventually a child will repeat module 1? If so, do you repeat the same books?  I’m sure it’s easier than I’m making it but I’m a little confused and overwhelmed compared to AO’s scheduling.  I really want to try SCM though since it seems more biblical based and I have 5 kids 6 and under:)

Also, for those that use library books, how does that work?  I’d love to for budget reasons but our library takes forever to get a book that’s already on hold for someone else.  I wouldn’t know if it would come at the right time or not, then we are only allowed 2 times to renew.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi!

First of all, yes, once you’ve gone through all the modules (one per year) you would start with #1 again, but by that time you would be using different supplements for the older children.  They would be doing a more in-depth study at that time.  And with 5 kids under 6 (wow! Smile) I think this family learning approach would probably work out very well for you – and for your budget.

I use our library as much as possible.  Each module is broken up into three terms so I’ll order the books for the first term, then as we approach the second I’ll order for that and so on.  So far I’ve been able to get the books when I need, but this time there is one book where I’m third on the list.  So I’m going to let it come in whenever it might get here and have our son read it then.  It won’t be in here in the time suggested in the module, but he will read it and that’s just fine.

We’ve been homeschooling for about 9 years now and one thing I’ve learned over the years is not to sweat it.  You don’t have to be perfect.  Your kids will learn.  And with the materials and guidance available here it can be quite enjoyable for the whole family.  Less stress for you too!

    Hope that helps!

    Linda
