Hello.  I am new to SCM and have been grazing on some CM “methods” in our homeschool with an intentional use of Narration, some enrichment in art study, music, some handwork, among other things.  I have always felt that the full immersion to CM quite daunting because I have a special needs child who has an IEP.  For the Fall, I am thinking of infusing CM more and I was wondering on how some special needs parents in the group modify according to their children.  Is there enough room to do so esp with the Lesson Plans?  I would think the History we are trying to give it a go but the Geography and Bible with the plans don’t match with what we plan to do.  Since middle school is also typically more science-y, will also give Nature Study a go with Jack’s Insects.  The Math, I am still unsure of placement and also on how it is going to be in the long run as my son is allowed to use tools like an open multiplication board and a calculator to push him to focus on the relational aspects of math and also word problems.  Hopefully to hear from the group soon!

Sonya made this video a few years ago and talks about how she used CM methods with her daughter who has special needs: https://youtu.be/u0r_v0pPddQ?feature=shared
