I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about Apologia’s new General Science curriculum?  My daughter found the old book quite dry and my 12 year old son asked if we could do something other than apologia this year, but I was curious about other’s thoughts.

I was also hoping to get some feedback on other middle school science courses.  My son would prefer less reading and more hands on.   He took Nutrition with Catie Frates and really enjoyed her.  However, I think I want to wait until Physical Science to use her again.  I was leaning toward teaching Earth Science or Chemistry, but that’s not set in stone.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks : )

Here is Jay Wile’s thoughts on the 3rd edition of General Science (he wrote the original and 2nd edition, this 3rd edition is by someone else). http://www.blog.drwile.com/my-review-of-exploring-creation-with-general-science-3rd-edition/

    I hope that is helpful!

I think my original response got lost in the spam trap because it had a link to an article. Dr. Jay Wile, who wrote General Science 1st and 2nd editions, has given his thoughts on this 3rd edition (not written by him). Search “Jay Wile 3rd edition General science” and you’ll find it online on his blog.
