Last year I used Truth Quest for history–American History. I didn’t get as far as I was hoping–mainly too many books and topics to choose from. I would like to complete American History this year. My children are 10/5th grade, 8/3rd grade, and 4. I was looking at the list of books and I noticed the break down for grades 1-3, and 4-6, etc. I have no problem teaching from the higher level for my younger daughter, the question is–how do you get all of the books done in a year? According to the module breakdown, I would be reading all the books from grade 1-6.

Do the two sets pick up from where the other left off? Are they the same time period, just the books are more appropriate for those ages? I need some help. Can you tell in clarifying what is what?

History is one of the areas where I want to step it up for my children, but it’s not a strong area of mine.

    thanks–Donna

I would like to add that I loved TruthQuest–the issue of too many books is due to my personality not the authors. I just had a hard time deciding what books would fit best. Thus the reason why I am looking at the breakdown of books from SCM. Hopes thta clarifies things.

Good question, Donna. The two sets of books cover the same time period, they’re just sorted by age appropriateness. It says that you would read all the books in grades 1-6 because with a Family setting, it’s easy to read aloud the Grades 1-3 books to the whole family, then assign the older children’s books as extra independent reading. Therefore, they would be hearing/reading all those books. If you would like to focus on just the grades 4-6 books, feel free.
