Need opinion on LDTR

I have a just turned 4yo and am considering purchasing LDTR handbook and the LDTR childrens book…firstly, am I right the Childrens is actually two books? Next question, is this enough to get going on habits…dont wanna really spend more for the workshop dvd if I can read the ‘how to’ in the handbook myself….Is starting this for my 4yo too early? I just wanna work on the foundational stuff before we start formal education in 2 yrs. Thanks in advance for opinions/rec’s.
