If anyone is interested in a neat creative writing opportunity, my kids are going to try their hand at writing a novel. The site to go to is nanowrimo.org. It is free and has very few guidelines.

TristanParticipantWe’ve done it the last two years. Be sure to check out the site for kids (their Young Writer’s Program) because there are FREE workbooks for Elementary through High School ages. They’re great help both before, during, and after NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Also the Young Writer’s program allows you to set a realistic goal for your child, instead of requireing the 50,000 words the adult program does.
LyndaFParticipantJust curious, this our first year doing this. What were the word goals that you set and what are the ages of your kids?
TristanParticipantWe used this page on their site to guide us in word count goals, it gives suggestions from Kindergarten on.
LyndaFParticipantThat was what we were using for our guide. I wasn’t sure if you did sonething different.
TristanParticipantNo, that worked well. The first year my oldest was a bit of a writing hater, so we went toward the lower end of her age range, the second year we went about the middle.
