    Okay, I have a question:

My oldest (12 this month/grade 6) is in the middle (well almost) of the previous book list for this module.  I have a feeling that we are not going to complete this list before next school year rolls around….my 8yo completed his list several months ago so we have been reading random books from this time period recommended from SCM and continuing to add to his timelilne.  I’d like to keep the boys ‘together’ as far as time periods go (more for my sanity) but we are losing time since my oldest has not been able to get through his list as quickly as my middle boy (not entirely his fault, but it is what it is).

I know we could just keep going and not concern ourselves with ‘school years’ but I’m wondering if we could just go ahead and use the ‘new’ list instead??  I have several of the listed books (he’s in Sign of the Beaver right now) and could just go from there and add the World History to his list (we have many of those books, too).

I’m not concerned about having a guide at this point, although I would’ve used it if it had been completed when we started, so that’s not an issue.

    What do you all think??

We have all the books listed from the previous list and I’d like to read them, but at this point I think I’ll just keep them and put out for them to read/look at at their leisure.  If I leave books out in a basket for ‘browsing’ my kids will pick them up and find nuggets of info on their own and share what they find interesting.

    TIA for any/all comments:)

Seems like if you don’t need to wait for the guide, you could go ahead and read the books listed whenever it works best for you.

So just kind of jump in to the revised Module and go from there??

Honestly, we started Module 5 last year about this time (I had ditched what we were doing to follow the SCM modules) and it took awhile to acquire some of my 11 yo’s list, plus a book was added that I wanted him to read. We read them together so it took awhile.  My middle boy’s list was just simpler to find, etc.   I’m just thinking that the ‘new’ list would be easier to complete by the time next ‘school year’ begins since we have read most of the picture book suggestions already.

I guess I have already made a decision but for some reason wanted to make sure it sounded reasonable:)

    Thanks for the input.
