Modern Geography

I am working through Early Modern and Visits to North America with my first grader this year. I am already looking at Modern for next year and debating whether to cover North America again for geography, or use the Visits to Asia book. On one hand, she is not reading and writing well yet this year, so another trip through North America with more map work next year might be very helpful and the geography books listed in Modern look interesting. On the other hand, we have really loved the Material World and Hungry Planet books used in Vists too. Any suggestions?
