Has anyone used this website? I’m thinking of having my very unchemistry-ish student do the kitchen chemistry. http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/home/home/index.htm

No, but thanks for the link.  I’ll drool for the next 10 or so years.  It’s an interesting website.  I just showed my husband, who is an electrical engineer, and we were both excited and impressed.  We want our girls to have at least one year of calculus under them before they go off to college.  It’s great to know there are good AP resources out there for us to teach them on our own.

Maybe someone else will chime in about the chemistry, we’re math people in this house…. Wink

Two of my daughters used one of the biology classes for 9th grade. There are several to choose from, as you can see here: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Biology/index.htm — but they did 7.012 because of the focus on genetics. It was a challenge, to be sure! They are not the most “science minded” so it was a very challenging but excellent experience.

I would recommend trying to choose one with a video component rather than just audio because it really helps them stay attentive. 🙂  And, at least for this class, we made sure they had the same edition of the textbook (easily found through Amazon, in fact we still have our old copies if anyone is interested). Also, we did print off the lecture transcripts so they could refer back to it if needed. It really gave them great exposure to classroom lectures… something not so common in a CM homeschool environment. lol  And this course had a few professors, so they ended up liking this one more than that one and could explain why.

    Hope that helps!

My husband emailed me this link too. I was very excited about it. I may do a course or two myself. 🙂
