  • Okay, only have a few minutes but…with this particular son we are just trying to get him through geometry before he graduates.  He doesn’t like math, has a hard time doing math and understanding.  We need a good Algebra 1 math!!  Ideas?

    Hi Blessedwithseven,

An idea would be to have him go through Kent Hovind’s “An Introduction to Algebra” dvd’s to solidify the basic concepts before tackling Algebra 1. My vote so far is for Jacob’s Elementary Algebra but you have to search to find one at a good price.

With Geometry, you might like to have him go through “Lessons in Experiemental and Practical Geometry” by Hall and Stevens or “Practical Exercises in Geometry” by William Douglas Eggar. These were both used in Charlotte Mason’s classrooms to give life, interest and meaning to Geometry. Adding it shouldn’t hold your son back but may even accelarate his learning of Formal Geometry in the long run.

    Warmly,

    Those dvds sound good.

For geometry I am going to start with Patty Paper Geometry.

    Hi,

Are those DVD’s in addition to a pre algebra course?  Just curious where they fit in?  Anytime?  I have a daughter who is doing TT 6 so just curious!
