Okay I know this may seem like a silly question to some. But I’ve googled it and still don’t know what it is. Can anyone help me please?

I’m trying to follow along in the Mathematics and DVD to teach my kids math this year. I look at Grade 7 and one of the first things it says on PNEU Schedule is Compound Division of Money. Is this the same thing a saying Long Division?

Just trying to clear this up in my head.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi 4my4kids!

Thank you for asking.  Yes, that is long division of money.  In Charlotte’s time they were dealing with £, shillings and pence and it was commonly referred to as both.

What I found as I went through the PNEU schedules and correlated them with the page numbers found in her arithmetic book(s) is that something such as “Long Division of Money” would have been given one year with just the first page of problems given.  The next year it would be covered again but this time more difficult problems in this section were given.  The following year, the most difficult problems from this section were given.

Please let me know if that hasn’t cleared it up for you.

    Best,

    Richele
