I just wanted to say THANKS to the SCM team for the Organizer. I’ve been using it for three years, starting our fourth and I’m SO grateful for it. I watched all your videos prior to my trial run and went right into my FREE 30 days – no credit card required – knowing how to work it. What an amazing blessing, to feel so confident in setting things up. Since then you have been steadily responding to our requests for improvements and additional functions. And what’s great is that they always work. The system is not glitchy – it’s rarely down, it never runs slow. It is intuitive. It is affordable. And I really, really appreciate that you aren’t releasing things BEFORE they are ready.
I confess, that I was enticed to try something new, all my friends were doing it. It was a nightmare. That’s all I’l say.
I LOVE the SCM Organizer. Our school year started today. I was able to enter all our new resources in a short amount of time – most things I use were already entered and scheduled from last year so we can finish up. It will be easy to add the new texts as the year goes along, because you already have every major text we’ve used in the Bookfinder. With a click and a click, we were off and running this morning. My mind is at ease, knowing that all my files are safe and sound and ready for the authorities should they ever come knocking. (Reporting is not required here, but my legal minded husband insists the more documentation the better). The Organizer meets his stringent standards. My review is glowing. Still loving it after all these years!
It looks wonderful, but the only thing holding me back is I will only have 1 student. Is it truly worth the cost for one student? I signed up for the 30 day trial but never got the chance to use it. Pesky little thing called “life” got in the way. 🙂
I felt guilty about asking for extra trial time, but since I hardly got past viewing the videos during a busy time, and since they offered….I took them up on it and got my extended free trial. I made a commitment to myself to spend a little time with it nearly every day, and it really helped me make my decision to subscribe.
Can you be specific in how you find it effective? Would it be effective for someone using a variety of styles but mostly CM based? I am following Oak Meadow so it is all in writing but books overwhelm me. So many and so little time!!! I too did the trial but never got it past the signup point.
Does it take a lot of time filling in? I am a bit of a paper and pencil person and that leads to……well HSing stuff in 4 rooms 🙂
Well, the organizer does not make books vanish, but it does help me keep track of everything we’ve done and it allows my schedule to be flexible without have to erase and move everything up or back a day if we miss something or double up on something.
It doesn’t take a lot of time to fill in, especially if you have a lot of subjects where you keep the family together and especially if you are using popular texts and living books – check the book finder for some of the books you use – if they are there, they are a breeze to schedule.
I’d watch a couple of the videos. They’ll give you a hands on idea of how the Organizer works and how it can lighten your load. Then ask Doug to pretty please reset your 30 days and give it a try, but I’ve got to say, watch those videos BEFORE your start your 30 days. They’ll make everything so much easier and give you some excitement about getting started.
delaney, we’ll be happy to reset the trial on your account too, if you’d like. That goes for anybody who might want to give the Organizer another try. Just contact us and we’ll take care of it.
Just wanted to thank the SCM team for what a fantastic service you provide for all of us! You certainly go above and beyond! Doug, I will take care of that tomorrow. Thank you for the second chance.
Yes! I couldn’t agree more. I am more of a starter than a finisher (I heard somewhere that was called being a “visionary”…sounds better than “quitter”, yes?). Anywho, I used it for half a year, then all last year and now this year. I wondered if the novelty would wear off and I would move on. Not so much. I can’t imagine schooling without it. Like seriously. I can’t. imagine. schooling. without it. It’s a lifesaver. Definitely worth the money.
I am a newer subscriber, but I L.O.V.E. the Organizer. It helps my box checking tendencies, but without the pressure of always being behind.
We were without power this week for 36 hours, and I was a bit lost without my CMO. Pencil and paper were good then, but I was glad to get back to the Organizer.
If I hadn’t already purchased my subscription to the “other” planner, I would be pretty tempted to give the Organizer another try. I am pretty disappointed in it, for the reasons you described. Down time, glitches, not having things ready when promised. I only purchased the other planner because it was supposed to be up to par, with APPS! My favorite thing ever, by August. It is mid-September, and I’m still waiting for it to be completely functional, and have no idea when the apps may come.
SCM, if you ever figure out a way to make this into an app so that it is available even when I don’t have internet service, I would be in heaven! But for now, I’m stuck with a planner that only works part time, so I use a paper planner in addition to it. I tried to get a refund, but I was over my 30 days by about a week. 🙁 They did offer to cancel my subscription and send me a paper planner, but I looked at the paper planner and the subjects are preprinted, and we don’t use all of them/would like a different order. Oh well. Live and learn.
