I would like to learn loom weaving techniques, but have not been able to find much info by googling. Can anyone suggest any resources or books that might be useful.  TIA!

Try interweave press.  They have a variety of books and magazines on fiber related hobbies.  Some libraries carry ‘Handwoven’ which is their weaving magazine.  ‘Spin-off’ is techinically a spinning magazine but they sometimes have articles about using handspun yarn in weaving projects as well.  I also remember a huge blue book by Alden Amos about fiber crafts in general.   Check our your local library system if you can, I know I checked out soooo many fiber craft books back before I had toddlers.  😉

Thanks for the pointer…my daughter LOVES weaving those cute little potholders on the little square looms and I really would like to get a larger loom and teach her some weaving!

Coming back to this, don’t forget to search your area for Sheep and Wool Festivals!  They have amazing vendor areas and tons of knowledgable and passionate people willing to help you learn.

venusmom – you may want to check out card weaving or tablet weaving for your daughter.  It kinda reminds me of advanced friendship bracelets but way cooler.  You dont’ have to buy a loom and it’s portable.

Not sure if this would be in-depth enough for what you want but I picked up Josefina’s weaving loom set from American Girl. My DD has also enjoyed the pot holder weaving and was able to experience working on a large weaving loom at one of country day festivals recently. This small loom seemed like a good way to let her enjoy making something at home.

Thanks eawerner – I’ll check out the card weaving and tablet weaving. She loves to do tons with her hands – and does much better with handiwork than I ever dreamed – and she’s only 6. I only hoped to be talented – she seems to love it. Maybe she aquired my aunt’s natural talent – but since she is still smaller portable idea sounds great – and budget friendly – large looms are crazy expensive! Can’t wait to show her these ideas!
