I was given a set of grammer books that I think are neat. I would compare them to the Sir Cumference books in intent.

They are the World of Language Series by Ruth Heller. I don’t have all of them, but most:

A Cache of Jewels and other collective nouns

Many Luscious Lollipops: A book about Adjectives

    Merry-Go-Round: A book about Nouns

Up, Up and Away: A book about Adverbs

Behind the Mask: A Book about Prepositions

Kites Sail High: A book about Verbs

Thought I’d pass these along as ideas to look up your library or to buy to make grammer instruction more interesting perhaps!

Do you have a website where I can look at these?  I’d be interested in checking them out.  Thanks!

I was wondering about Grammar Tales, Parts of Speech Tales, and Punctuation Tales.  Has anyone used these?

They are published by Scholastic and are kind of like the Heller books.

I couldn’t find a full listing of her books. But if you go to Amazon and type in one book, the others will come up if you scroll further down. It seems the only one I’m missing  is the one on Pronouns.

Marsha, I’m not familiar with the books you mentioned.

This book looks good too.  It’s called Grammar-land by M.L. Nesbitt.

That Grammar Land looks really cool.  I found it on Google Books.  Not a great looking copy (it looks like someone scanned the pages in) but free none-the-less!

Grammerland is good; I got it free from Homeschool Freebie’s one time. Seems to be for a little older than the Heller books.

If you ever want to purchase it, it can be found at Yesterday’s Classics.
