I am trying to find living books for early civilizations besides Greece and Rome. I have seen these three on China
- The Great Wall of China (O)
- Magic Tree House #14: Day of the Dragon King 68p
- Year of the Tiger 194p
This one on Japan
- Sam Samurai
But I would like to find anything on India, Africa, Americas, etc. Any titles that you know of? thanks
nebbyParticipantHere’s what we used for China:

I guess I never posted what we did on India. I know my then 9 or 10 to fell in love with Clive. He read a book on him from Heritage History I think. I’ll see if I can remember what else we used.

sherazParticipantHeritage History has a large library of digital books here. Just look for the civilization you are interested in and click that tab. You can also purchase the books for downloading.
HollySParticipantWe’ve enjoyed the “Science in Ancient…” series. There is one for Egypt, Mesopotamia, and I think there are a few more. We didn’t read it, but I’m pretty sure they have one for China. We also read one for colonial times.
We enjoyed SCM’s Ancient Egypt and her Neighbors…If you download the free sample, you can see which civilizations are covered.
LaurieParticipantThanks all. Nebby I hope you do write that blog on your studies of India. I have found several others and will put a list together because I know there are other book listers out there. 🙂
