Hello ladies,
I am looking for some book suggestions for my almost 15 yo daughter. She loves to read so I am looking for titles to add to her leisure reading list. She enjoys a wide variety of styles. Thank you in advance for chiming in with yours or your children’s favorites!
mom2fiveParticipantOk, so I have been using the bookfinder and using different search criteria. I have found some “new” books. I really don’t know why I didn’t start there. Thanks again, SCM!!
totheskydearParticipantYou could also check the free reading lists on AmblesideOnline.com.

Cheaper by the Dozen
The Story of the Trapp Family Singers
Esperanza Rising
original Nancy Drew books
The Witch of Blackbird Pond
Stargirl
Understood Betsy
The Westing Game

The Golden GobletMelanie32ParticipantI have a 15 year old daughter as well!
Some of her favorite books are:
Pride and Prejudice as well as Emma by Jane Austen
She loved Little Women part 1, but not part 2-lol by Alcott
The Sherlock Holmes books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Alice in Wonderland by Carroll
The first few books in the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery
The Mysterious Benedict Society series. I can’t recall the author’s name off of the top of my head.
The first three books in the Harry Potter series by Rowling.
Hope you find some great reads for your daughter! If you list some of her favorite books, we might be more helpful.
mom2fiveParticipant@totheskydear Thanks for the reminder of the AO lists!
@art Your list reminded me that I have several of those titles on my shelf. She grabbed The Story of the Trapp Family Singers and started reading it last night. She is also currently reading Pilgrim’s Progress. Thank you so much for your suggestions!
@Melanie32 I see some similarities in types of books our daughters might pick. She listened to Alice in Wonderland on audio book at a young age and consequently can pretty much quote the book (great for story telling for her kiddos in the future-wink). It was definitely a favorite. She has also read Little Women and the first few Anne books. I may pick up the next couple in the series. Thanks for your suggestions! Here are some others that she has read:
The Knights of Arrethtrae series and the Wars of the Realm series by Chuck Black
Twice Freed by Patricia St. John
The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
A Peep Behind the Scenes by O. F. Walton
For one Moment by Christmas Carol Kauffman
The Lamplighter by Maria S. Cummins
By Searching by Isobel Kuhn
The first few books in the Elsie Dinsmore series by Martha Finley
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
