If you are using the new LDTR for Children book, how often are you reading from it? I’m trying to plan out next year and wondering how often to schedule it. Also, is 6 weeks per habbit a good time frame?
missceegeeParticipantI’m scheduling 1 habit per term. Planning to use it 1x per week.
clay1416ParticipantI’m doing the same as missceegee…we are working on a habit for each term. We do a short lesson on it once a week and just keep working on it during the rest of the week as opportunities arise. For example, we are working on obedience, so the kids have learn CM’s motto this way: “I am a child of God, I can obey, I ought obey, I will obey!” So when they start being disobedient I just say “I am…” and usually they stop for a moment realize they are not being obedient and change their attitude…most of the time…:) of course, there are the times when they KNOW they are disobeying and will do it anyways so that’s when the consequences come 🙂
Hth 🙂
BenitaParticipantIs it doable to do 2 per term at 6 wks each? 2 times per week? How long does a lesson typically tape? Going to order the book this week, just want to finalize my schedule.
missceegeeParticipantBenita, that would work well, too.
akirechelleParticipantThat is how we are using it, Benita. I have the habits we are working on scheduled in the Organizer so I don’t forget that we are working on new habits 🙂
Sara B.ParticipantI just listened to Sonya’s Laying Down the Rails workshop from our homeschool conference this past spring. In it, she mentioned working on a habit for 6-8 weeks, but more often she emphasized 2 months per habit, for a total of 6 per year. I am planning on doing a minimum of 8 weeks per habit – because I know us (and me <ahem>) and how we are about getting habits implemented. We don’t catch on quickly… LOL I am also planning on using Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones along with LDTRFC, as needed, so it could easily take longer than the 8 weeks I have planned.
HollySParticipantI think I’ll keep mine as scheduled for 6 weeks and make adjustments later if needed. I made sure to put the ones I really want to work on first anyway. I ordered the All Day Seminar as well, so I’ll be able to watch the LDTR dvd when it arrives, hopefully on Monday!
We don’t catch on all that quick either. 😉
cdm2kkParticipantJust got my stuff in mail today. The All day Seminar and Laying Down the Rails book & DVD and Rails with children. Now to decide what to work on first!! I am kidless for the next 24 hours and I am going to devour this book! Books being delivered makes me so giddy. I am in heaven and hubby is looking at me like I’m crazy. Silly non readers just don’t understand. 8-P
