We were given a kindle fire from my mother in law just last week. I am wanting to use it to download books from Gutenberg and audiobooks from bookshouldbefree, com. Can I not do this? It tells me when I try that it first will need to be downloading and is sending it to downloads, however I don’t know how to find such said “downloads”. They aren’t showing up in my books.

Does anyone have a kindle fire or nook that you download from those sites too? She also gave us an orginal so nook.

    Thanks for any help!

I have a Nook. If I want to download something that’s not from B&N, I have to save it on hard drive first, then transfer it to the Nook. I save it to a specific file on my hard drive. Perhaps you have a file named “downloads” on your hard drive?

Amazon has detailed instructions on their Kindle help pages.

They are in your downloads. Depending what type fire you have depends how you open this-use the kindle link for that. I would love to move books in downloads to my books, but haven’t figured out how. I can’t find it on the kindle help page.

    DawnD,

Is that on the fire, or on my amazon account page? I’m so new to this I feel so stupid!

If you go to that Kindle help page, the first thing they do is help you idenify which model you have. The instructions are then given just for your model.
