So, I’m curious what you might have planned for Rosh Hashanna.  So far we have Passover and Hanukkah incorporated into our year.  This year I want to do something for RH, but I never know quite what.  Silly I guess, since we always went to synagogue for it when I was a kid.  I look forward to your ideas!

I’d like to know what others are doing also! It’s coming up Thurs! I’ve not had time to plan anything. I may just do a desert to celebrate the world’s birthday. Then just discuss it’s the Jewish New Year and that we remember that Jesus is coming back like He went into Heaven.

I plan to make Challah. That was one of the suggested activities in Robin Sampson’s book.

We’ll also do all the suggested Bible Readings. I can post them if someone doesn’t have the book and wants to see them.

These are my plans:   Wed. afternoon or evening, I’ll read from “Walk w/Y’shua through the Jewish Year”. I’m going to make a round challah w/raisins (or buy one fresh at Publix or Whole Foods since I have to take my husband to the airport Wed. morning!), a brisket (In the crockpot) and Tzimmes. Everything is to have a sweetness to it. I’ll light the Festival candles, my son will blow his shofar w/Blessings, because it’s a New Moon (Rosh Chodesh), and we’ll read some related Scriptures for Yom T’ruah and talk about the binding of Isaac and the parallel w/Yeshua, the Judgement, Y’shua coming back and of the significance of analyzing our hearts, if there is any unforgiveness there, for the 10 days before Yom Kippur and specifically praying for the unsaved normative Jewish Community during this spiritually sensitive time period.

Then Thurs. morning we’ll be going to synagogue for services; my son will blow his shofar there, too for the Feast Day. It’s a wonderful service with such significant liturgy and worship music. Then we have a huge time of eating and fellowship. Lotsa apples and honey!

Friday, I’ll spend some time reading from my Book of Jewish Holidays and reading the Parsha for Rosh HaShanah. On my calendar, the Torah portion is: Gen 21:1-34; HafTarah:1 Sam. 1:1-2:10 amd New Covenant: 1 Thess. 4:13-18. This coming Saturday is an extra special Shabbat, being a Sabbath of Repentance. For those of you who don’t have a Messianic Synagogue or Congregation, the Messianic Siddur I sent earlier has a service you can do at home. Here it is again:http://www.heartofisrael.net/pubs/Siddur2.pdf

In case I don’t check in, LaShanah Tovah B’Yeshua HaMashiach (have a good year in Jesus the Messiah)!  Rachel

    Hi everyone!

I received this link in an email from Ariel Ministries this morning.  Looks like an excellent (and thorough) teaching on Rosh Hashana – http://www.ariel.org/mbs118m.pdf

    Blessings,

    Linda
