We are doing Truthquest History and Jean Fritz books are on the reading lists often.  Specifically once it has been stated in the guide that the author had an negative American slant in one of the books.  We’ve just tried to read another one, “Where Do You Think You’re Going Christopher Columbus?”, and it seemed to be almost mocking God, or what Christopher Columbus felt was God’s call on his life.   We put it down and read the D’Aulaire book instead.  Has anyone had this same experience, and is it a common thread throughout her books?  I don’t want to waste space on my library hold list if so.

    Thanks!

I’m sorry I can’t answer if its a common thread through all of her books since we haven’t read them all. However, we’re not too keen on them either (also using TQ), and replace with D’Aulaire books where ever we can, since imo they are far better. Don’t worry if you don’t care for Fritz books – You won’t be missing out since there are so many rich selections in TQ to choose from; That’s what we love most about it. God bless! ~ Heather

We haven’t noticed that in the two that we read, but my kids cannot stand those books anyway, so we avoid them.
