Intro – New to CM and homeschooling

    Hi! This fall will begin our HS journey…I’m mom to DD8 and wife to my wonderful DH of 15 years.  Many of my friends have HS for years so I’ve seen the positive results (at least 2 high school graduates receiving full college scholarships; not to mention personal/spiritual beneifts).

    God has directed our path to HS after DD attending a Christian school thru 2nd grade; and after a stressful year,  I feel impressed to provide a “gentle” year for her.  In my research I came to read about Charlotte Mason’s method and then SCM.  I have spent a lot of time during the last month or so reading on SCM and other places but always come back here.  SCM feel like a good “fit” for me. I have enjoyed the encouragement, kindness and helpfulness at SCM.

    I have already ordered/read/listened to Reaching Your Child’s Heart, Planning your CM education and most of the free resources.  Thank you, Sonya, for so many wonderful, Biblically-centered resources.  I have been encouraged and challenged. 

    I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions (many already answered by the informative forum posts) and look forward to contributing too.  (and as you can see, I sometimes write lengthy posts LOL 🙂

    Welcome Mar!  I’m  new here too!  It sounds  like we have a lot in common right down to the stressful private school.  I just want to mention Sonja’s all-day seminar because that has helped me so very much.

    Sonya’s seminar dvd is on my wish list.  Did you attend it or watch the DVD?

    I’ve had a fun time gathering information, books and other resources.  Looking forward to an exciting yet “gentle” year.

    I have a copy and refer to it often-  if the live seminar was easy to get to I would attend.
