    Friends,

Am I the only one going nuts this time of year???

It’s muddy here, everything is wet, it’s cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. I HATE sending the kids outside cause I know they will be coming in with wet, muddy clothes and they will need to be showered “again”. I am doing so much laundry do to this time of year I’m going nuts.

What do you all do to get through this rough patch of year? I have 5 boys who are going nuts in the house which in turn stresses me out, and sending them out is ok till it’s time to come it AHHHHH it’s a never ending cycle.

HELP or needing to vent?? 🙄

    Blessings

I’m pretty sure that CM would say to send them out. Maybe you could make them take off their dirty clothes and wear them again the next couple of days – just for when they go outdoors. Pick clothes where it doesn’t matter if they get and stay stained – just let them dry somewhere and then make them change before they go outside the next day. No one has to know you make your kids wear dirty clothes. 🙂

Ours are out no matter the weather. Until last month, we had an outdoor cold water shower they used (we live in FL so it’s never freezing), but we recently remodeled the kitchen bath to include a small shower and now they come inside and hit the shower right away. 😆

I’m not sure, but maybe there’s a way to do an outdoor solar shower for when they’re really muddy.

Almost all of my kids clothes are stained. I just keep a couple of things that I forbid them to wear to play in and the rest I say who cares.

I’m more concerned with keeping the floors, carpets and furniture clean and that’s where the shower has come in handy.

    Blessings. 🙂

Wow! Mud from head to toe? Do they like to roll in it or what? 🙂 lol

Do you have those high muck boots for each of them? These have helped with our boys when they romp ’round outside. How about jeans designated just for outdoors? I usually have them take their boots and jeans off in the entry way before heading onto the carpet. They are expected to throw their jeans in the rompin’ basket unless their wet, then they have to hang them- we wash them once a week. Muck boots go on the muck boot tray. However, I only have 3 boys at this point (well 4 if my husband counts 🙂 ), so I’m not sure how I would handle 5.

Just remember this phase will pass. Muddy floors, dirty clothes, lots of showers, and young boys will only be with you a short season. IMHO, I would let them outside as much as possible. The joy of getting outdoors and discovering Gods creation will always stay with them.

Have Fun and Get Muddy! lol

    🙂

Thank ladies, maybe I just needed to hear LET THEM OUT & DEAL with it! 😉

But I like the idea of one pair of jeans to wear outside and was once a week. Yes we have the tall wader boots but it still never fails they get wet.

Also the mud from head to toe is because a few kids have 2 left feet I’m sure of it. They are contantly falling down LOL

Thanks for reminding me to “deal” with it!

Yeah we have mud head to toe too. A few days ago, I thought “Here we go again :x” because of all the muddy clothes and wet towels and DS was down to only one pair of dry shoes. But a while back I was visiting with a teenaged boy who had played at my house once as a kid, and he told me that the day I let him go out in the mud puddle in his shorts and he got totally muddy and wet was the ONLY TIME IN HIS LIFE he had done anything like that, because his parents didn’t want him to get dirty. It was a precious memory to him.

when I get mad about laundry and mud and wet towels I try to remember that – kids need mud!

But I am right there with you Misty – alot of laundry. It isn’t the dirty, so much as the wet.

Thanks I took your idea’s and we put a set of pants and shirt outside for my boys to wear. So if they want to go out they go get them shake them off and bring in laundry room (right next to garage door) and change. So far it’s working though they don’t like changing there clothes all the time. And one of them asked if I was going to wash them every day. Ah no I said, maybe 2 times a week. And I got this look 🙄

Oh well we have to meet have way I said, and this is it.

Thanks again for the great memory Gem I will try and keep that in my mind. I don’t want any regrets when they get older over “dirt”

Have you looked at getting some “outdoor shoes” for the kids? I am getting ours some mud boots because I don’t want them to destroy their tennis shoes. I went looking around and the crocs Georgie boots look really neat. I may do that for the summer and then get some muck boots for the winter.
