Sometimes a book may take 2 months if it’s really long.  😉  But we generally just try to pace it so it works in a month.

Okay, I don’t think any of the books this year will be really long!  Thanks so much for your feedback!  :).

We are in the middle of Trumpet of the Swan now and my kids are loving it, even at age 12!  Before this, we enjoyed Emily’s Runaway Imagination and plan to read Black Beauty soon, which was referred to in it.  We also enjoyed Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie.

I don’t plan much ahead either.  I just always have one going and start a new one when soon after it is finished.

    Five Children and It

    Charlotte’s Web

    Little House series

    The Wizard of Oz

Those are all ones my 6 1/2-year-old has loved. I’m having a hard time choosing a fifth! 🙂

My oldest is 7 and he has really enjoyed the Winnie-the-Pooh books, the My Father’s Dragon trilogy, Farmer Boy, Stuart Little, and A Bear Called Paddington. He also loves several of the others already listed. I have used a lot of audio books for him this year and that has been easier since my other children are younger and I tend to read a lot of picture books aloud. I have been able to find all the chapter books we’ve done this year on audio CD through the library system where I live, so it has been great!

A Mix for both sexes and can you tell we are heavy on science in our house! Martha
