Wouldn’t it be cool if the entire SCM scripture memory system box were made into an iOS app for iphone, ipad, etc! I envision the basic box set up with the dividers as is. Ideally, you could make your own cards with any translation either by typing them yourself or by pulling the reference. In a perfect world, the cards could be double sided (like the Foundations cards from Children Desiring God) with a picture on one side.
I have no idea how to make an app, but I’d snap this up in a heartbeat if someone else made it!
I don’t know if you noticed a month or so ago my post about the modifications I made to the scripture box system for those of us that sometimes miss days?
I have a “daily” tab, and “alternate” tab, then a “weekly” tab, and a monthly tab.
1 scripture goes behind the daily one. 2 go behind the alternate. 5 to 7 go behind the weekly, and the rest learned go behind the monthly. We read the one at the front of each tab, and move the card to the back of that tab section. Once we have more than 30 monthly ones, I will put a number on the tab to tell me how many to read in that section a day.
This works better for me – so that if we often are missing a day because of the other activities we do, or some other problem… we don’t lose the scripture.
Anyway, just thought you might want to mention the variation to those working on the program…. (not that I have an iphone or ipad or anything….
In the mean time, I found an app called Fighter Verse. It is based on the set from Children Desiring God that our family uses. I love it, EXCEPT, I wish I could organize it like my SCM box! It has a new verse to appear each week. I’m trying to wrap my head around how to make this work until the SCM team figures it out for me.
However, not having to type in the verses on the ipad, reviews, ability to hear it read and sung are great features, too.
so I haven’t been on here in forever, but this app idea crossed my mind and I thought I’d check and see if anything has happened with it yet? has it been mentioned in another post (I couldn’t find one when I searced). still eagerly waiting 🙂
I know that there are many SCM projects underway, but I just thought I’d bump this back up. Who knows if there’s someone on the board who may develop apps.
