I’m new and I will be using SCM Genesis through Deuteronomy & Ancient Egypt guide. The problem is that I can’t find some of the books that I need. Croco’nile, and Oxfords first book of Ancients are two that I can think of right off the top of my head. What can I use instead?? I really need to have a good solid guide and would like to stay as close to the recommended books as possible.

Angela, Amazon has the Oxford book, Oxford First Ancient History. You’ll see a link in our CM Bookfinder to that page on Amazon. You might try an inter-library loan for Croco’nile.

I don’t know what state you are in, but the Georgia libraries have many copies of Croco’nile. If you use the website http://www.fetchbook.info you can find used copies of both of these books at many different retailers.

I have Croco’nile and it is a cute story but you can certainly get by without it. Just sub in another story you have for that day. And I got my Oxford book, along with most of the others at Amazon-free shipping too:)

    Good luck!

I agree, any cute Egypt book you can find will fit the bill.  Just head to your library and see what they have.  I ended up substituting a nice short picture biography of a scientist named Senefer.  Don’t get hung up on one picture book!

Thanks for the help. I actually found a cute book at our library book sale. It’s old and it’s called, simply, “Egypt”. I think we are going to use that in place of Croco’nile. I guess the problem is that I don’t have the guide from Sonya yet and  I’m afraid that if I don’t have the suggested books that it’s going to throw the study off.
