    I am so new to all of this.  HS and CM.  I have 3 kids, but am looking to HS my DD next year who would be entering into the 4th grade.  I NEED HELP!  There is so much information and quite frankly I’m confused.

    Welcome!  You are in the right place.  🙂  There is a learning library on this website with lots of articles and some videos to get started.  SCM has very user friendly curriculum.  We have used their history guides for years and use many of their recommendations and materials.

    Once you have a bit of time, I highly recommend the book For the Children’s Sake if you haven’t already read it.  It’s a beautiful book that focuses on the beauty of a CM education.  A Charlotte Mason Education is another great book which focuses more on the “how to”.

    I’d be happy to answer any questions you have, and I’m sure others here would too!

    For 4th grade, your DD would have math, copywork, Spelling Wisdom, lots of narration (her telling you what happened in her readings), science, and history.  After that you could add in a few extras: literature, poetry, music, art appreciation, nature study, and handicrafts.  I recommend starting with the basic subjects and slowly adding the rest over several months.  It took us several years before we finally got around to Shakespeare, which is now their favorite subject!
