Does anyone get together with homeschool moms to share what’s working, what isn’t, brainstorm, encourage, etc.?  Sometimes I think that’s what local homeschool groups just expect to happen amidst their gatherings without actually planning for such times.  I’m starting a monthly evening get-together for moms in our homeschool group to do the above, but I’m just curious what other such a groups looks like.

I’m thinking that each month we’ll have a couple of specific questions to discuss at our meeting, along with opening it up to discuss other current things that are happening in the various homeschools.  Also thinking about a curriculum show and tell with the moms one month and maybe having a former homeschool mom with graduates to come share an encouraging word with the moms one month.  Other ideas?

My HS group has a topic for each meeting. They have done “show and tell” for your favorite curriculium. One month it was organizing for home and school. One month meal planning…

The biggest challenge is time. The curriculium show and tell would have been great but a few took a long time, even with prompting from the host to wrap things up, so not that many were able to share.

I think having topics, an outline or plan, is a great idea! My mom was the leader of our HS group when I was growing up and she never had a meeting with out a clear plan.
