How do you use the Burgess Animal Book?

    I am reading the Burgess Animal Book to my year 2 child this year and had planned on reading one chapter per week, a chapter at a time, and then having him narrate, but one whole chapter seems like too much for him to narrate.  If we just read a page or two a week then we sort of lose track of where we are in the book – there’s a loss of continuity from week to week.

    How have you used this book?

    I started out reading it 2-3 times a week with my DS, but he was having a hard time remembering the previous reading so he said he’d rather do it daily and finish it sooner. He was OK narrating a whole chapter, and then we watched youtube videos (discovery channel, bbc) about the animals to help further cement the info.
